Josef Rebbe was born in 1975 in Meschede, Germany.

From 1997 he studied Composition with Prof. Johannes Fritsch and Electronic Composition with Prof. Hans-Ulrich Humpert at the University of Music in Cologne, Germany. He completed this study in 2002 with the Bachelor of Music.
In the same year, Josef worked as a synthesizer player at the world premiere and CD production of Karlheinz Stockhausen’s STOP UND START under the direction of the composer.

From 2002 he received a talent scholarship from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) to study Sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He completed this study in 2005 with the Master of Music.

In 2004 Josef was inspired to investigate the healing properties of music and especially tangible sound.
In Amsterdam Studio STEIM (Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music), he first researched perceptible resonances of low-frequency vibration in the human body.

During this time, Josef also trained as a Shiatsu therapist at the CSMBK (Cultural Foundation for the Arts of Massage and Movement), where he received lessons from Yoshinori Miyashita, among others. He worked in a private practice for a few years.

Josef also played keyboard in the rock band NiCad, participating in numerous concert tours and highlights, including the SXSW festival in Austin, USA. NiCad has won various prizes, including the “Grote Prijs van Zuid-Holland”, the title “Beste CD 2008” and the first prize at the crossover competition “Check MO”.

During a concert trip through Israel, Josef floated in the dead sea, and the idea came to him to work with tactile sound in water.

In 2012 he founded Pyramidion, a center for healing, inspiration, and research in The Hague, where he has since developed Aquasonic Massage, a new treatment method where it is possible to receive a vibratory massage while floating in hot water.

His collaboration with Joeri Bonsel goes back to the year 2005, in which Josef participated in an intuitive singing circle led by Joeri. Soon the desire arose to work together, which in 2010 led to the production of their first CD “SPARKS 2010”.
Since then, Joeri and Josef have been investigating and producing audible and tangible sound in various ways.

In 2018 they founded the company SOMASONO.
